The Most Miserable People On Earth Are...

Want to know who the most miserable people on earth are?

Before I just go out there and tell you all... I want to say something first.

This is something I learned from one of my sisters. She happen to stumble upon a video on YouTube one day and decided to watch it. The video was really intriguing to her and so she had me listen to it as well.
It was a short video but it still had a lot to say that would really get you thinking...

So when she listened to the video, it made sense and changed her perspective on life because the most miserable people on earth are..... Christian's who live self serving.

Yup! That's it! Those are the most miserable people on earth. If you want to know why, keep reading and I'll explain.

So it happens to be like this. When a person becomes a Christian and they repent and get baptised and start their life as a believer, God changes their hearts. He takes out their stone hearts and replaces them with a heart of flesh

"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."
(Ezekial 36:26)

When this happens, the person also recieves Christ's nature which is different from our nature. Our nature is of the flesh while Christ's nature is of the spirit. Now dont get this wrong... our old fleshly nature does not leave us until death but we must battle to not let it get it's way. We also have our habits which need to be changed and worked on which takes time as we become more and more Christ like.

"Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature"
Romans 13:14

As a sinner, before Christ entered our lives, we had a sinful nature that controlled us. But with Christ, we now have his nature living in us as well which gives us the power to live according to the spirit and not the flesh. We have Christ's nature which is loving and caring and self sacrificing.

"But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)"
Romans 8:9

So when someone who has the nature of Christ in them keeps living their lives as though they never got that new heart and were never born again, their joy and happiness slowly dwindle away and they become miserable. They are miserable because they are going against their spiritual nature and it causes them to be unsatisfied.

Are you a follower of Christ? A disciple of Christ? A Christian? Whatever you want to call yourself...
If you are, do you feel happier and more joyful when you give yourself luxury things and take amazing care of yourself and self serve yourself or do you get more joy and happiness out of helping someone else? Doing a good deed? Sharing the gospel?

It's much harder work of course to be serving others rather than yourself but it's in our new spiritual nature now and self sacrifice for others for the kingdom of God brings us closer to God.

Now I'm not saying to not take care of yourself. Please take care of yourself but all I'm saying is that you have to make sure your neighbor is taken care of as well. And others that need a helping hand or just need to be listened to or need to hear the gospel and so on.

"Love your neighbor like yourself"

Those words were not said in vain.
Praise the Lord everyone and thanks for reading. God bless you and think about what you read. If you have anything to add to this, please do so in the comments section or write to me and I will read it. Till next time!!
