The Narrow Path
Let me just start out by putting a verse before you.
Matthew 7:13-14
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
The narrow gate is small and leads to life. Almost everyone can agree with this verse that the gate to life is narrow and only a few find it. But how narrow is it?
We constantly think that to go through this gate its all about rules we can and cant do and to get through that narrow path, you must be a good person and believe in Jesus and so on.
But what if it wasnt about the rules we follow or just believing in Jesus that leads us through that gate? Jesus said even the demons believe in one God but that doesnt mean they are saved.
James 2:19
"You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror."
When was the last time you looked at your life and thought that because of all you have done in your life you will be saved? Or did you think that if you are a good person that that's enough to save you and go to heaven? Is just being the average "Christian" enough to be saved?
Most people believe in a God and most people believe in Jesus. Does that mean they are all saved?
Take a grand look at your life and question it. Question everything you have done good and then question everything you are doing wrong or have done wrong. Question your beliefs and your christian life structure.
Now, look at everything from your past and ask yourself a question.
"Where is your fruit?"
Jesus said bad trees produce bad fruit and good trees produce good fruit. But do you have any fruit at all?
If the path to life is narrow then how can everyone who believes in Jesus and believes in God go to heaven? If the path is narrow then why do most people believe they are saved yet still go on sinning? Why are so many that claim to be saved don't experience persecution or struggle with sin or constantly hate one another and fight fire with fire?
Why dont we see Jesus in these "Christians" that claim to be saved and on their way to heaven? Where is the true church thats leading people to Christ and where is the power in the Gospel that was preached and shown in the book of Acts?
Why do so many in our "churches" leave and do drugs and are alcoholics and commit suicide and spread gossip and sleep around and so on?
Are they all on the narrow path that we all claim to be on? Are we all saved?
No! This is not the narrow path! This is not what Jesus spoke about and we have lost ourselves in this world. We have become slaves to sin and we love the darkness. We love the pleasure it brings us and the satisfaction it gives.
We love our sin and love having the things of the world.
We don't carry our cross everyday!
WHERE IS THE FIRE CHURCH??
What happened?
We have all been blinded by the world. Jesus said that if we are his, the world will hate us. Not love us and accept us.
John 15:18-22
"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’[a] If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin."
The narrow path...
How narrow is it anyways?
Its so narrow that you must leave yourself behind. You carry your cross and the things of this world you leave behind.
This doesn't mean you don't get a job or cant open a business or cant go on vacations. It means you still separate yourself from this world.
You have to have a relationship with God in order to even find that narrow path.
I can tell you this, most of you are not on the narrow path nor have you ever even seen it. Don't be so quick to grab the world nor take what's in it and don't be so quick to accept its pleasures and its empty promises.
Find God! Search for him while you still have time.
Those who seek him, he will reveal himself to them. But be ready to leave everything for him. Even your life. If you are not ready to leave your life for the truth, then you havent found him yet.
God bless you all.
